Given the sad passing of Her Majesty The Queen, and as per national guidance Monday 19th September has been declared as a national Bank Holiday. Sexual Health Services will be closed on Monday and service delivery will resume as normal Tuesday 20th September.

Update on funeral arrangements for Her Majesty, The Queen   

The state funeral for Her Majesty, The Queen will take place at 11am on Monday 19th September. This has been declared as a national Bank Holiday.  There will also be a national one-minute silence the night before.  This will take place at 8pm on Sunday 18th September.

Information from South Tyneside Council Books of condolence have been opened to enable residents of South Tyneside to pay their respects following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The books are now available for people to sign every day at:

  • South Shields Town Hall between 8.30am and 7pm
  • Jarrow Town Hall between 8.30am and 7pm
  • Hebburn Central during normal opening hours & The Word in South Shields during normal opening hours.

The books will close at 6pm the day after the funeral. People who are unable to visit a venue to sign can contribute a message via email at memorialbook@southtyneside.gov.uk

Floral tributes can also be left by the Queen Victoria statue outside South Shields Town Hall.
